  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great) Choose firm apples for the best texture.
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs Can be substituted with gluten-free breadcrumbs.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Adjust the amount based on taste preference.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adjust according to your taste preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel (optional) and cut apples into fry-like sticks. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set up coating stations: Bowl 1 for flour, Bowl 2 for whisked egg and milk, Bowl 3 for the breadcrumb mixture with sugar and cinnamon.
Coating
  1. Dredge each apple stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, and then coat well with the breadcrumb mixture.
Cooking
  1. Lightly spray coated apple fries with nonstick spray. Place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
  2. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

Store leftover apple fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer to regain crispiness.
