Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk together the oil and eggs until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples and walnuts if using.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the frosting by mixing the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the cake has cooled, spread the frosting on top.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
