Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and applesauce.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients and fold in the diced apples.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Icing
- For the icing, combine brown sugar and milk in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until it begins to boil.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before drizzling over the cooled cake.
Notes
