  • 1 can baked beans
  • 4 slices whole grain bread Can substitute with gluten-free bread if needed.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the canned baked beans to the pot and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Simmer the beans for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. While the beans are simmering, toast the bread slices until golden brown.
  6. Serve the baked beans over the toasted bread, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

To add flavor, use fresh herbs like thyme or basil. You can also include toppings like grated cheese, chili flakes, or a fried egg.
