Ingredients
  

For the bruschetta
  • 1 large Baguette or Italian bread Sliced into 1/2 inch slices
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For brushing on bread
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves Halved, for rubbing on bread
  • 2 cups Ripe tomatoes, diced Use fresh, ripe tomatoes for best flavor
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded Can substitute with other cheeses
  • 1/4 cup Fresh basil, chopped For flavor
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch slices and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Brush each slice with olive oil and rub with a halved garlic clove.
  4. In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, basil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spoon the tomato mixture onto each bread slice.
  6. Top with shredded Gruyère cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. Reheat in the oven at 375°F until warmed through. You can customize the bruschetta by adding ingredients like olives or roasted peppers.
