  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy, then beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
