Ingredients
  

Cookie Base
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Spooky Add-ins
  • 5-10 drops green food coloring optional
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 24 candy eyes optional, for decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract until well combined. If desired, mix in green food coloring.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. If using, gently press two candy eyes onto each cookie dough ball.
  3. Bake for 9-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra spooky effect, decorate with green frosting and edible glitter, or add candy eyes before baking.
