Ingredients
  

Appetizer Base
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure it's at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional) For extra flavor.
Topping
  • 1/3 cup hot pepper jelly Feel free to experiment with different flavors.
  • Fresh thyme leaves or chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  2. Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully combined.
  3. Add flour, salt, and garlic powder; mix until the dough forms.
  4. Wrap and chill the dough for 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the sheet, 2 inches apart.
  3. Press a thumbprint into the center of each ball.
  4. Fill each indentation with 1/2 tsp of hot pepper jelly.
  5. Bake for 13–15 minutes until golden.
  6. Cool slightly, garnish with herbs, and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For storage, keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven before serving for best taste. Experiment with different cheeses and jellies for variety.
