Preparation
- Roll out the pie crusts and cut them into circles.
- In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture and a spoonful of cherry pie filling on one half of each pie crust circle.
- Fold the crust over and seal the edges with a fork.
Cooking
- Preheat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Carefully fry the hand pies until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Optional: dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Best served warm. Pairs nicely with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or in the refrigerator.
