- Prepare the chocolate pudding according to package directions using cold milk; set aside to chill and thicken.
- Slice the chocolate cake rolls into 1/2-inch thick rounds. Arrange half of the cake slices in a single layer at the bottom of a large trifle dish.
- Spread half of the prepared chocolate pudding over the cake layer, then top with half of the thawed whipped topping.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cake slices, pudding, and whipped topping.
- Garnish the top of the trifle with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, before serving to allow flavors to meld and layers to set.
Notes
For an extra touch, drizzle with chocolate syrup or garnish with fresh berries before serving.
