For the pie
  • 1 homemade flaky pie crust Store-bought pie crust can also be used.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) For an extra chocolatey flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, and flour until well combined.
  3. Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  4. If desired, stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is set and has a crackly texture.
  2. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Make sure the pie crust is fully baked before adding filling to avoid a soggy bottom.
