Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature butter for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Can substitute with white sugar but will be less chewy.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Experiment with different types of chocolate chips.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
Baking
  1. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are nicely golden.
  2. Allow to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a glass of milk or topped with ice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
