Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cups All-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp Baking powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 Large eggs
  • ½ cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Loaf pan
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Rubber spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wire rack

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan, ensuring it is thoroughly coated.
Mixing
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and eggs until the mixture is light and fluffy. Gradually beat in the milk and vanilla extract.
  3. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing only until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter to keep the cake tender.
Final Touches & Baking
  1. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  2. Pour the prepared batter into the greased loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before carefully transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for a smooth batter. Do not overmix the batter to keep the cake tender. For best results, allow the cake to cool completely before slicing before slicing and serving.
