Dough Preparation
- Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let the mixture sit until it becomes foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa, and salt, then add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic, then place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours.
Assemble Rolls
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
- Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chocolate chips.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long edge, then slice it into 12 equal pieces.
Baking
- Arrange the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until they are lightly golden and cooked through.
Glaze
- While the rolls cool slightly, whisk together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth.
