Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla.
- In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
- Take a small amount of dough and press it around a maraschino cherry to form a ball.
- Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- Top with frosting before serving.
