Ingredients

Brownie Batter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional
For Serving

Equipment

  • 8x8 inch baking pan
  • Saucepan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Parchment paper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan, lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, then remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until combined.
Mixing
  1. Whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth, followed by the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
  2. Stir in the vanilla extract, then gently fold in the all-purpose flour and salt until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  3. If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted a couple of inches from the edge comes out with moist crumbs, but not wet batter.
Cooling & Serving
  1. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting out and cutting into squares.
  2. Serve and enjoy these rich, fudgy brownies!

Notes

For extra fudginess, avoid overbaking; the center may look slightly underdone but will set as it cools. Always allow brownies to cool completely before cutting to achieve clean slices and the best texture.
