Ingredients
  

Brownie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs Whisked in after melting butter and sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Chocolate Mousse
  • 1 cup heavy cream Heated until steaming
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate Chopped
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt butter and sugar together in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until combined.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  6. Let the brownies cool completely.
Making the Mousse
  1. Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until it begins to steam.
  2. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit for a few minutes. Stir until smooth.
  3. Whisk in powdered sugar until combined.
Assembly
  1. Spread the mousse over the cooled brownies and refrigerate until set, about 2 hours.

Notes

Serve chilled. Slicing them into squares garnished with chocolate ganache or whipped cream adds an extra touch.
