Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add the cocoa powder and flour, mixing until a dough forms. If desired, stir in the chopped nuts.
- Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are set but still soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then roll them in powdered sugar while they are still warm.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before rolling them in powdered sugar again, if desired.
Notes
Keep the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
