Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is fully softened for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Additional powdered sugar for rolling.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract You can change flavor by using different extracts.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) If using nuts, chop them finely for better mixing.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and salt. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the cocoa powder and flour, mixing until a dough forms. If desired, stir in the chopped nuts.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are set but still soft.
  7. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then roll them in powdered sugar while they are still warm.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before rolling them in powdered sugar again, if desired.

Notes

Keep the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
