Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour For gluten-free, substitute with almond flour.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Sift to eliminate lumps for a smoother filling.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Use dairy-free butter for a dairy-free option.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg yolk Replace with a flaxseed egg for vegan version.
For the filling
  • 1 cup heavy cream Coconut cream can be used for a dairy-free version.
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped High-quality chocolate enhances flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. Stir in the egg yolk until the dough forms.
Baking
  1. Press the dough into a tart pan evenly and up the sides.
  2. Prick the bottom with a fork.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes, then let it cool.
Filling
  1. In a saucepan over low heat, combine cream and sugar.
  2. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the cream is warm.
  3. Add the chopped dark chocolate and vanilla extract.
  4. Stir until smooth.
Setting
  1. Pour the chocolate mixture into the cooled crust.
  2. Let it set at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Serving
  1. Once chilled, slice the tart and serve with whipped cream or fresh berries if you like.

Notes

Make sure your butter is at room temperature for easy mixing. Sift the cocoa powder to avoid lumps in your filling. Use high-quality chocolate for richer flavor. Allow the tart to cool completely before slicing for cleaner pieces.
