- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil, spray with non-stick spray, and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until it boils. Boil for 3-5 minutes without stirring until thickened.
- Pour the hot toffee evenly over the crackers and bake for 5 minutes.
- Remove from oven, immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee, let sit for 5 minutes to melt, then spread evenly.
- Optionally sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Cool completely at room temperature or chill until firm, then break into pieces.
Notes
For best results, make sure your baking sheet is well-lined and greased to prevent sticking. You can also customize the toppings with nuts, sprinkles, or white chocolate drizzle after the chocolate layer has set slightly.
