Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup Brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil, spray with non-stick spray, and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until it boils. Boil for 3-5 minutes without stirring until thickened.
  3. Pour the hot toffee evenly over the crackers and bake for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven, immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee, let sit for 5 minutes to melt, then spread evenly.
  5. Optionally sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Cool completely at room temperature or chill until firm, then break into pieces.

Notes

For best results, make sure your baking sheet is well-lined and greased to prevent sticking. You can also customize the toppings with nuts, sprinkles, or white chocolate drizzle after the chocolate layer has set slightly.
