- Melt butter in a large pot over low heat, then add marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
- Stir in vanilla extract and a few drops of red or green food coloring if desired. Quickly fold in the rice cereal until well coated.
- Gently press the mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish lined with parchment paper. Immediately sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles.
- Let the treats cool completely, then cut into squares and serve.
Notes
For best results, press the mixture lightly into the pan to keep the treats soft and chewy. Use parchment paper for easy removal.
