  • 2 pieces apples, diced Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for better flavor.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Add nutmeg or allspice for a unique twist.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 piece egg
  • Oil for frying Oil for frying Use enough oil to submerge the fritters.
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk For glaze.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Fold in the diced apples.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Glazing
  1. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters before serving.

Store leftover fritters in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or in the refrigerator for about a week. Reheat in the oven for crispiness.
