Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar (for swirl)
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Best at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk Can be substituted

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a Bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour.
  6. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle with half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture, then top with the remaining batter.
  2. Lastly, sprinkle the top with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  3. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Don’t overmix the batter. Adjust cinnamon to taste. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
