Method
Prepare the Crust
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, melt the unsalted butter.
- Mix the graham cracker crumbs and granulated sugar into the melted butter until well combined.
- Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch pan to form the crust.
- Bake the crust for about 10 minutes, then allow it to cool.
Prepare the Filling
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Gradually add in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract while mixing until well combined.
- Fold in the Cool Whip gently until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
- Spread the filling over the cooled crust in an even layer.
- Finally, spoon the cherry pie filling over the top.
Serve and Store
- Serve Classic Cherry Delight chilled, cut into squares.
- Store any leftovers in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap or foil, for up to 3-4 days.
Notes
Make sure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing. For a firmer filling, let it chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours after assembling. You can also add a sprinkle of chopped nuts or coconut on top for added texture.
