Royal Icing Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 5 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the meringue powder and powdered sugar.
  2. Add the water and vanilla extract (if using) to the bowl.
  3. Beat with an electric mixer on high speed until the mixture forms stiff peaks, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. Use the icing immediately or store it in an airtight container.
  5. Decorate your sugar cookies as desired.

Notes

Ensure your mixing bowl and beaters are clean and dry for the best results. Adjust water for consistency: add more for thinner icing, less for thicker. Use food coloring in small amounts for desired color. If had any leftover icing, store it airtight at room temperature for up to two weeks.
