Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt adds savory flavor
  • 3/8 cup dried cranberries provides sweet and tart flavor
  • 3/8 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Wet Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup warm water ensure water is warm, not hot
  • 1.5 teaspoons pure honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon Platinum Yeast from Red Star instant yeast

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, mix together the flour and salt.
  2. Add in the dried cranberries and chopped nuts, stirring until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the warm water and honey.
  4. Add in the yeast and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
  5. Pour the yeast mixture into the pot with the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  6. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  7. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Let it rise for 1 hour.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf on a piece of parchment paper.
  3. Transfer the loaf and parchment paper to a baking sheet and let it rise for another 20 minutes.
  4. Bake the bread for 25-35 minutes, until it is golden brown on top.
  5. Let the bread cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

To keep your homemade bread fresh, wrap it in plastic wrap or foil and store it at room temperature for 2-3 days, or freeze it for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature when ready to eat. Knead the dough well for proper gluten development and consider adding spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
