Ingredients

Jam Ingredients
  • 4 cups Cranberries
  • 4 cups Apples peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 4 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 cup Water

Equipment

  • Large pot or Dutch oven
  • Canning jars with lids and bands
  • Ladle
  • Potato masher or immersion blender (optional)
  • Funnel (optional)

Method

Making the Jam
  1. Combine cranberries, chopped apples, sugar, lemon juice, and water in a large pot.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the jam thickens.
  4. Mash the fruit slightly or use an immersion blender for a smoother consistency, if desired.
  5. Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
  6. Seal with lids and bands, then process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes (adjust for altitude).
  7. Remove jars and let them cool completely; check for a proper seal before storing.

Notes

For best results, use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith. Ensure jars are sterilized before filling. The jam will thicken further as it cools.
