Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the grated frozen butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the cranberries and orange zest.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cold heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until it comes together.
- Shape the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into wedges.
- Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
