Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef You can substitute with turkey or chicken.
  • 8 ounces pasta (like rotini or penne) Feel free to use gluten-free pasta.
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Choose pepper jack for a spicier version.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped onions and bell peppers Add in at the browning stage.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. If using, add chopped onions and bell peppers at this stage and cook until softened. Drain excess fat.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serving
  1. Serve hot from the oven, paired with a fresh salad or garlic bread.

Notes

Make sure to cook the pasta al dente, as it will continue to cook in the oven. Consider adding peas or corn for extra nutrition. For a spicy kick, add diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage. Reheat in the oven or microwave until heated through.
