For the Bloomin' Onions
  • 2 large onions Cut into a bloom shape
  • 1 cup buttermilk For soaking the onions
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For dredging the onions
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning
  • for frying Oil Use an appropriate frying oil
For the Buttermilk Ranch Dip
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp dried dill
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cut the onions into a bloom shape, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  2. Soak the onions in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
Cooking
  1. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dredge the soaked onions in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  4. Fry the onions until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
Making the Ranch Dip
  1. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, dill, chives, and a pinch of salt.
Serving
  1. Serve the crispy onions warm alongside a bowl of homemade buttermilk ranch dip.

Notes

Make sure to cut the onions properly for the best bloom effect. Let the onions soak in buttermilk longer for a richer flavor. Fry in smaller batches to avoid overcrowding the pan and ensure even cooking.
