Making the Pancakes
- Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl, whisking together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
- In a separate bowl, whisk wet ingredients including milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; do not overmix, as lumps are okay.
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or non-stick pan over medium heat, then pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter per pancake.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook the other side.
Decorating the Reindeer
- Once cooked, transfer pancakes to plates and immediately begin decorating while warm.
- Place two pretzel twists at the top of each pancake for antlers, pressing them gently into the warm surface.
- Arrange two mini chocolate chips for eyes and one red candy for the nose to complete your reindeer.
- Serve immediately with maple syrup and enjoy your delicious reindeer pancakes!
Notes
For extra festive flair, you can add a touch of red food coloring to the red candy nose for a brighter Rudolph look!
