Method

Making the Pancakes
  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl, whisking together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk wet ingredients including milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; do not overmix, as lumps are okay.
  4. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or non-stick pan over medium heat, then pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter per pancake.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook the other side.
Decorating the Reindeer
  1. Once cooked, transfer pancakes to plates and immediately begin decorating while warm.
  2. Place two pretzel twists at the top of each pancake for antlers, pressing them gently into the warm surface.
  3. Arrange two mini chocolate chips for eyes and one red candy for the nose to complete your reindeer.
  4. Serve immediately with maple syrup and enjoy your delicious reindeer pancakes!
