- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the onions and garlic until they are soft.

- Use an immersion blender to blend the soup until smooth. Alternatively, you can carefully transfer it in batches to a blender.
- Stir in the milk and season with salt and pepper. Heat through.
