Easy Smash Burger Tacos

These easy smash burger tacos combine the best of both worlds: crispy smash burger patties cooked directly on tortillas, topped with classic burger fixings for a fun and delicious meal.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 8 count small flour tortillas
  • 8 slices American cheese slices
Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/2 cup special burger sauce e.g., mayo, ketchup, relish mix
  • salt and pepper to taste

  • Large frying pan or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Dice lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion; mix ingredients for special sauce if making homemade.
Cooking
  1. Divide ground beef into 8 equal portions and lightly form into loose balls.
  2. Heat a large frying pan or griddle over medium-high heat. Place a tortilla on the pan, then immediately place a beef ball on top.
  3. Using a spatula, firmly smash the beef ball flat onto the tortilla and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes until browned, then flip the burger-tortilla combo and immediately place a slice of cheese on the hot patty.
  5. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and tortilla is crispy. Remove and top with lettuce, tomato, onion, and special sauce. Repeat for remaining tacos.
