  • 8 slices sourdough bread Fresh sourdough bread is recommended for best flavor.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Melted for grilling the sandwiches.
  • 8 slices provolone cheese Can substitute with Swiss cheese for variation.
  • 1 cup thinly sliced roast beef Feel free to swap for turkey or chicken.
  • 1 cup beef broth Heated for serving with the sandwiches.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Method
 

Preparation and Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  2. Place 4 slices of bread in the skillet, butter side down.
  3. Layer each with 2 slices of provolone cheese and some roast beef.
  4. Top with another slice of bread, butter side up.
  5. Cook until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. In a separate saucepan, heat the beef broth.
  7. Serve the sandwiches with the warm broth for dipping.

Notes

Serve hot with warm beef broth for dipping. Add sides like pickles or chips. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet.
