Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1/2 cup cold water for blooming gelatin
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water for dissolving gelatin
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar or to taste
  • 2 cups fresh grapefruit juice OR fresh pomegranate juice chilled

Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups
  • Serving dishes or molds

Method

Steps
  1. In a medium bowl, sprinkle gelatin powder over 1/2 cup cold water and let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
  2. In a saucepan, heat 1 1/2 cups hot water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved; remove from heat.
  3. Add the bloomed gelatin to the hot sugar mixture, stirring until completely dissolved.
  4. Stir in the chilled fresh grapefruit or pomegranate juice until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into individual molds or a 9x13 inch dish, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until firm.

Notes

For best results, ensure the gelatin is fully dissolved before adding the cold fruit juice. You can also add fresh fruit segments to the gelatin before chilling for added texture.
