Ingredients

Brownies
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon Baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
Christmas Frosting
  • 3 cups Powdered sugar
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 2-3 tablespoons Milk
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • Red and green food coloring as desired
  • Christmas sprinkles for decoration

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Large mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Electric mixer (optional)
  • Spatula
  • Cooling rack

Method

Brownie Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a separate large bowl, combine melted butter and granulated sugar, then beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract until well mixed.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and no streaks of flour remain.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly, then bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  6. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before frosting.
Frosting and Decoration
  1. In a large bowl, beat softened butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Divide frosting into two portions and tint one with red food coloring and the other with green, or use one color for a unified look.
  3. Once brownies are fully cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top using a spatula or pipe decorative patterns.
  4. Generously sprinkle with Christmas sprinkles before the frosting sets.

Notes

For extra fudgy brownies, be careful not to overbake them. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with moist crumbs, not wet batter. Get creative with your Christmas sprinkles and food coloring!
