Ingredients
  

For the cookie bars
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
For the frosting
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Sprinkles Optional, for topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  7. Let the bars cool completely.
Frosting
  1. For the frosting, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  2. Spread over cooled bars and add sprinkles if desired.
  3. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

These bars are best served at room temperature. Store in an airtight container for up to four days. Refrigerate for up to a week.
