Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Mixing & Baking
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips by hand.
- Scoop large mounds of dough (about ¼ cup each) onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving plenty of space between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
Cooling
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra chewy cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Do not overbake; the cookies will continue to set as they cool. Feel free to use a mix of chocolate chips, like milk chocolate and dark chocolate, for varied flavor.
