Cupcake Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream softened butter, then beat in eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter and bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Frosting and Decoration
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, beating until light and fluffy. Add a few drops of red food coloring to create a pale pink or off-white "flesh" tone.
- Frost each cooled cupcake using a piping bag with a star tip or a knife. Drizzle red gel icing or raspberry jam over the frosting to resemble blood.
- Insert a pair of plastic vampire fangs into the center of each cupcake, creating a "bite" effect.
Notes
For an extra spooky effect, you can use chocolate cupcakes and a darker red "blood" drizzle.
