  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Use aged cheddar for a sharper taste.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is softened for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional) Add for extra flavor.
  • 2-4 tablespoons cold water Use ice-cold milk as an alternative.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Add shredded cheddar cheese and softened butter, and mix until crumbly.
  4. Gradually add cold water until the dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  6. Cut into desired shapes and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden.
  8. Let cool before serving.

Notes

Store cooled crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for several days. Freeze for up to two months with parchment paper between the layers. For variations, add herbs or sprinkle sesame seeds on top before baking.
