Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
For the Garlic Butter
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter
  • 4 Garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese grated (optional)

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Saucepan

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large bowl, activate yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast; let it sit until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture, then mix and knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Shape and Bake
  1. Punch down the risen dough, transfer it to a floured surface, and roll it into a rectangle.
  2. Cut the dough into strips and tie each strip into a knot shape, then arrange them on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake the knots in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Make Garlic Butter
  1. While knots are baking, melt butter in a small saucepan with minced garlic, then stir in chopped parsley and optional Parmesan cheese.
  2. Once baked, immediately brush the warm garlic knots generously with the prepared garlic butter and serve.

Notes

For best results, serve these garlic knots warm straight from the oven. You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight for convenience.
