Ingredients
  

Donut Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying Ensure oil is heated to 375°F (190°C)
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Method
 

Prep the Batter
  1. In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Fry the Donuts
  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Make the Glaze
  1. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Dip each donut into the glaze while it’s still warm and allow to set before serving.

Notes

Best served warm. Consider adding sprinkles or cocoa powder for extra flair. Store in an airtight container for 1-2 days or freeze for up to a month.
