Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients and Flavor
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed Use cold butter for flaky biscuits.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to experiment with other cheeses.
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk Can be substituted with milk mixed with vinegar or lemon juice.
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
  5. Add the buttermilk and honey, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to over mix.
Baking
  1. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it out to about 1 inch thick.
  2. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with additional honey butter.

Notes

Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months.
