For the Apple Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined, then fold in the chopped apples.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely on a wire rack.
For the Cream Cheese Frosting
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating until fully incorporated. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Once the cake is completely cool, spread the dreamy cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
Notes
Ensure apples are finely chopped for even baking. The cake must be completely cool before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
