Burger Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Use 80/20 for juicy burgers.
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced Sweet onions can also be used.
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns Toast before serving.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cheese slices (optional) Try cheddar or pepper jack for flavor.
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, pickles, etc.) Use your favorites.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat a griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add a little oil and sauté the onions until they are caramelized, about 10 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Form the ground beef into balls and place them on the hot griddle.
  2. Press down firmly with a spatula to create a thin patty.
  3. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side, adding cheese on top if desired.
  5. Toast the hamburger buns on the griddle.
Assembly
  1. Assemble the burgers with the caramelized onions and any desired condiments.

Notes

To store any leftovers, let the burgers cool down completely, then place in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave until heated through. For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or onion powder to the beef before cooking.
