  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish, optional

Method
 

Step by Step
  1. Brown the ground Italian sausage in a large pot or Dutch oven, then drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, then stir in the minced garlic until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the undrained diced tomatoes, chicken broth, uncooked pasta, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, stirring to combine.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until pasta is tender and liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in the heavy cream, shredded cheddar, and mozzarella cheeses until melted and creamy.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a spicier kick, use hot Italian sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the seasonings. You can also substitute other pasta shapes like rotini or cavatappi.
