- Brown the ground Italian sausage in a large pot or Dutch oven, then drain any excess fat.

Notes
For a spicier kick, use hot Italian sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the seasonings. You can also substitute other pasta shapes like rotini or cavatappi.
