  • 2 pieces French baguettes
  • 500 g minced meat (beef or pork)
  • 1 piece onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 200 g grated cheese (such as Gruyère or Emmental)
  • 1 piece bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For sautéing
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • for garnish Fresh parsley, chopped

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. Cut the baguettes in half lengthwise and scoop out some of the bread interior to create space for the filling.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
  2. Add the minced meat and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stir in the diced bell pepper and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Spoon the meat mixture into the prepared baguettes and place them on a baking sheet.
  5. Sprinkle the grated cheese generously on top of each filled baguette.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

These baguettes can be served as a main dish or a hearty snack. They pair well with a simple side salad or crispy chips. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. You can also freeze them before baking.
