  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Crushed candy canes or more, to taste

Method
 

Steps
  1. Cream together softened butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and peppermint extracts until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt, then gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 9-11 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are set.
  7. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra minty flavor, you can add a few drops of peppermint extract to a simple powdered sugar glaze and drizzle it over the cooled cookies.
