  • 2 cups crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreos, filling removed)
  • 5 tbsp melted butter
For the chocolate layer
  • 1.5 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet preferred)
  • 0.75 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the cream cheese layer
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it is at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream, whipped OR 2 cups whipped topping
For assembly and garnish
  • 0.75 cup crushed candy canes
  • 2 cups whipped cream or whipped topping
  • Extra crushed candy canes for garnish
  • Whipped cream swirls for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Making the Crust
  1. Mix the crushed chocolate sandwich cookies with the melted butter in a bowl.
  2. Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish to create an even crust.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, then let it cool.
Preparing the Chocolate Layer
  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter.
  2. Stir continuously until melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before spreading it over the cooled crust.
Making the Cream Cheese Layer
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Gently fold in the whipped cream or whipped topping until well combined.
  3. Spread this mixture over the chocolate layer in the baking dish.
Final Assembly
  1. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  2. Layer the remaining whipped cream or whipped topping on top.
Garnishing
  1. Finish your dessert with extra crushed candy canes and whipped cream swirls for an eye-catching decoration.
Serving
  1. Place the dessert in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to set properly.
  2. Slice the dessert into squares for serving.
