Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 6-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Stir in boiling water until well combined. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Topping
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cool, top with chocolate ganache. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Make sure your ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Do not overmix the batter; mix until just combined for a softer texture. For extra moisture, you can add a tablespoon of sour cream to the batter.
